Recommended Builds

Recession Build — June 2026

~$920

1080p / Low / ~30 FPS (XeSS) — floor of the GTX 1070 minimum

The Arc A580 trades blows with the GTX 1070 at DX12, which is exactly where Remedy drew the minimum line. Expect 1080p Low at 30 with XeSS doing the heavy lifting. No path tracing — that requires RT cores the A580 technically has but Northlight is tuned for RTX. The 100 GB SSD install swallows nearly half the Recession tier's 256 GB drive.

Budget Build — June 2026

~$1189

1080p / High / 60+ FPS (DLSS) — matches or exceeds the recommended RTX 3070

The RTX 5060 sits at or above RTX 3070 raster performance and adds DLSS 4.5 with Multi Frame Generation, which Remedy has confirmed support for. That puts the Budget build right on the recommended line — 1080p High at 60-plus is the designed experience. Basic ray-traced effects run here; full path tracing does not.

Mid-Range Build — June 2026

~$1647

1440p / Medium-High / 60 FPS (DLSS)

The RTX 5060 Ti pushes past the recommended tier into 1440p. DLSS Quality holds 60 at Medium-High. Ray-traced reflections and global illumination run cleanly; full path tracing is still a stretch at this resolution.

High-End Build — June 2026

~$2201

1440p / Ultra / 60+ FPS — 4K with DLSS

The RTX 5070 runs native 1440p Ultra or 4K with DLSS Performance. Path-traced effects layer in at 1440p without tanking frames. The 9800X3D keeps the CPU out of the conversation entirely.

The 1% Build — June 2026

~$7434

4K / Ultra / path tracing / 120+ FPS

The RTX 5090 runs native 4K Ultra with full path tracing and DLSS 4.5 pushes past 120. This is the only tier where you see Remedy's Northlight engine at its ceiling.

What to Upgrade First

Control: Resonant is the sequel to the game that sold a generation of RTX cards, and Remedy has not dialed anything back. The Northlight Engine now supports path tracing, RTX Mega Geometry, DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and DLSS Ray Reconstruction. The GPU does all the work that matters.

The minimum spec asks for a GTX 1070 — the Recession tier’s Arc A580 matches that floor, but the 256 GB system drive barely fits the 100 GB install with room for an OS and one other game. The recommended spec asks for an RTX 3070, which the Budget tier’s RTX 5060 meets head-on with the bonus of DLSS 4.5 frame generation that the older card lacked. That makes the Budget tier the sweet spot for the experience Remedy tuned the recommended preset around.

The CPU requirement is light by 2026 standards — an i5-8500 minimum and i7-9700K recommended, both lapped by every processor on this page. The real variable is how much of Remedy’s visual stack you want to run. Path tracing turns Control: Resonant into a different-looking game, but it demands RTX 5070 territory at 1440p or the RTX 5090 for 4K. Below that, you get standard ray-traced reflections and call it a day. Official specs cover raster performance only; Remedy has said detailed path-tracing and ray-tracing tiers will follow before the September 24 launch.
