Recommended Builds
The floor, and an honest one: the Arc A580's 8 GB meets the minimum VRAM exactly, but its raster sits a notch below the named RTX 2070 minimum GPU. Expect 1080p Low with XeSS and the occasional dip — this is the one game on the site where the Recession tier is genuinely at its limit, not comfortably inside it.
| Component | Part | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Case | Thermaltake S100 TG | $70 | $70 at Newegg |
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 7500F | $175 | $175 at Amazon |
| GPU | Intel Arc A580 8GB | $185 | $185 at Amazon |
| Motherboard | Gigabyte B650M DS3H | $130 | $130 at Amazon |

| Storage | Patriot P300 256GB NVMe SSD | $53 | $53 at Amazon |
The RTX 5060 clears the RTX 2070 minimum comfortably in raster, but its 8 GB VRAM only matches the minimum, not the 12 GB Recommended figure. 1080p High 60 with DLSS is solid; leave the highest texture preset for the tiers above.

Over Budget: the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is the VRAM-safe pick — it clears the 12 GB Recommended figure with room, so textures stop being the bottleneck and 1440p High opens up. Paired with 32 GB RAM, it matches the official Recommended tier.

Over Mid: the RTX 5070's 12 GB meets the Recommended VRAM exactly, and its raster sits well past the RTX 3070 Ti Recommended GPU — native 1440p Ultra, or 4K with DLSS.

Over High: native 4K Ultra with frames to spare. The RTX 5090's 32 GB buries the 12 GB Recommended VRAM line.

What to Upgrade First
The Gothic 1 Remake’s requirements have one number that does all the work, and it isn’t the GPU model — it’s VRAM. Alkimia lists an 8 GB minimum and a 12 GB recommended, and on this Unreal Engine title that figure gates higher resolutions and texture presets harder than raw shader throughput does. The named GPUs back this up: an RTX 2070 minimum and an RTX 3070 Ti / RX 6800 XT recommended are mid-range cards, but the VRAM bar quietly rules out a lot of otherwise-capable hardware.
That reshapes the usual ladder. The Recession tier’s Arc A580 has exactly 8 GB, so it clears the minimum VRAM, but its raster performance sits just below the RTX 2070 the spec names — this is the one game on the site where the cheapest build is at its limit rather than comfortably past it. Plan on 1080p Low with XeSS and accept some dips. The Budget RTX 5060 has the horsepower to clear the minimum easily, but it too carries only 8 GB, so it runs 1080p High well while leaving the top texture preset for cards with more memory. The real VRAM-safe entry is the Mid tier’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, which clears the 12 GB recommended figure outright and unlocks 1440p; the RTX 5070’s 12 GB meets it exactly for 4K-with-DLSS, and the RTX 5090 makes the question moot.
The rest is undemanding. The CPU floor is an i7-7700K-era chip — even the recommended tier only asks for a Ryzen 5 3600X — so every build here is far past it. RAM is the one place the recommended tier jumps, from 16 GB to 32 GB, which the Mid build and up already carry. The install is a modest 60 GB, but an SSD is required, and the spec specifically wants NVMe at the recommended tier.
