1080p / Low / ~30 FPS (XeSS) — at the minimum GPU floor

The Arc A580 sits just under the Arc A750 / RTX 2060 the minimum names, so 1080p Low with XeSS is the realistic target. For a small or mid-size zoo that is fine — but Planet Zoo's simulation scales with every animal, guest, and staff member, and a sprawling park hits the Ryzen 5 7500F before the GPU. This is a CPU-bound genre: the A580 sets resolution, the CPU sets how big your zoo can get.

1080p / High / 60+ FPS — clears the recommended tier

The RTX 5060 sails past the recommended RTX 3070, so 1080p High at 60-plus is comfortable. The GPU is not the question in a management sim — the Ryzen 5 7600 handles mid-size zoos well, and only the largest, busiest parks push it. 16 GB RAM matches both the minimum and the recommended spec.

Mid-Range Build — June 2026

~$1647

1440p / High / 60+ FPS

The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is overkill for Planet Zoo 2's rendering and holds 1440p High easily. The real upgrade here is the move to 32 GB RAM, which gives the simulation headroom as your zoo and its save file grow. The Ryzen 5 7600 remains the long-term constraint for the densest parks.

High-End Build — June 2026

~$2201

1440p–4K / Ultra / 60+ FPS — built for huge zoos

This is the tier that matters for a simulation game. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D's 3D V-Cache is exactly what Planet Zoo 2's per-agent simulation tick rewards — the largest, most crowded zoos stay smooth where a lesser CPU would stutter. The RTX 5070 handles 1440p Ultra or 4K with DLSS without breaking a sweat.

The 1% Build — June 2026

~$7434

4K / Ultra / 120+ FPS — no zoo can tax it

The RTX 5090 is far beyond anything a management sim asks for; the story here is the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, whose cache and core count keep frame pacing stable in the densest possible park at 4K Ultra. You build at this tier for the simulation ceiling, not the graphics.

What to Upgrade First

Planet Zoo 2 is a management sim, and that flips the usual priority order: the CPU matters more than the GPU once your zoo grows. Frontier’s Cobra engine tracks every animal, guest, and staff member individually, and that load lands on the processor — a sprawling, busy park bottlenecks the CPU long before the graphics card runs out of headroom.

The GPU requirements are modest by 2026 standards. The minimum asks for an RTX 2060 or Arc A750, and the recommended only steps up to an RTX 3070 — a line the Budget tier’s RTX 5060 already clears. Every tier from Budget up renders the game comfortably; the Recession tier’s Arc A580 sits a notch under the minimum GPU, so it holds 1080p Low with XeSS and is best paired with smaller zoos.

Where the money actually buys you something is the CPU and RAM. The recommended spec stays at 16 GB, but a large save benefits from the 32 GB that arrives at the Mid tier. And the single biggest upgrade for this genre is a large-cache CPU: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D (High) and 9950X3D (1%) turn the densest, most populated zoos from a slideshow into smooth play. If you build sprawling parks, prioritize the CPU; the GPU mostly just sets your resolution. The 40 GB install is light.
