Why these numbers

Scaled from A Plague Tale: Requiem’s official requirements — same studio (Asobo), same engine lineage, the prior series entry. Requiem shipped with a GTX 970-class floor and an RTX 3070-class recommended tier and scaled gracefully; a 2026 sequel built for current consoles lifts that to roughly an RTX 2060 minimum and an RTX 4060 recommended, where comparable linear AAA action titles have landed this generation. Confidence: moderate — strong franchise anchor and a near-term (August 27, 2026) release. The Steam page (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2713000/) is live but lists only DirectX 12 and “to be announced soon.”

What to Upgrade First

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy was announced for an August 27, 2026 release, but as of this writing Asobo Studio hasn’t published real PC requirements. The Steam page is live and takes pre-orders, yet both the minimum and recommended blocks carry only a generic 64-bit note, DirectX 12, and “to be announced soon” — no CPU, no GPU, no RAM, no storage figures. So everything below the OS line on this page is an estimate, scaled from A Plague Tale: Requiem’s official requirements, which is the closest comparable: same studio, same engine lineage, the previous entry in the series. These figures will be replaced the moment Focus publishes the real numbers.

What the comparable tells us is encouraging for most buyers. Requiem shipped in 2022 with a fairly reasonable floor — a GTX 970-class card at minimum and an RTX 3070-class card for its recommended 1080p tier — and it scaled well rather than demanding brute force. A 2026 sequel built for current consoles will lift that floor, but the franchise has never been a hardware hog the way an open-world or path-traced release is. The likeliest shape is a minimum around an RTX 2060 and a recommended tier near an RTX 4060, which is where comparable linear AAA action games have landed this generation.

Against those placeholders, every tier on this site has margin. The Plague Tale games are GPU-bound — the rat-swarm and lighting effects lean on the graphics card far more than the CPU — so the build choice comes down to your target resolution. The budget tier’s RTX 5060 should clear 1080p High; the mid tier’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB opens up 1440p; the high tier’s RTX 5070 covers 1440p Ultra or 4K with DLSS. With an August 2026 launch, this is one of the nearer-term titles on the site, so the estimates carry more weight than for something years out — and the weekly spec monitoring sweep will swap in the official figures the moment Asobo posts them.
