Recommended Builds

Recession Build — June 2026

~$920

1080p / Low / ~30 FPS (XeSS) — sits on the GTX 1070 minimum floor

The Arc A580 matches the GTX 1070 minimum, but this is a UE5 title with an RTX 3080 recommended spec — the gap between minimum and recommended is enormous. Expect 1080p Low with upscaling to hold 30. The 80 GB install leaves roughly 100 GB on the 256 GB drive, tight for anything else.

Budget Build — June 2026

~$1189

1080p / Medium / 30-60 FPS (DLSS) — below the recommended RTX 3080

The RTX 5060 sits below the recommended RTX 3080 by a meaningful margin. DLSS Balanced pushes Medium settings toward 60 at 1080p, but this is one of the few games on the site where the Budget tier runs noticeably under the recommended line. No resolution/fps targets are specified in the official sheet, so these are estimates anchored to the GPU gap.

Mid-Range Build — June 2026

~$1647

1080p / High / 60 FPS (DLSS)

The RTX 5060 Ti closes some of the gap to the recommended RTX 3080 but does not fully match it. DLSS Quality at 1080p High holds 60. This is the entry point for a comfortable experience in this title — the minimum-to-recommended GPU spread is wider than most games on the site.

High-End Build — June 2026

~$2201

1440p / High / 60+ FPS (DLSS)

The RTX 5070 is the first card on this page that meets or exceeds the recommended RTX 3080. It reaches 1440p High at 60-plus with DLSS, and the 9800X3D clears the Ryzen 5 5600X recommended CPU with headroom. This is where the UE5 engine stops fighting you.

The 1% Build — June 2026

~$7434

4K / High-Ultra / 60+ FPS (DLSS)

The RTX 5090 runs 4K with DLSS Quality at High-Ultra settings. UE5 titles at 4K native are demanding even for top-end silicon, so DLSS or upscaling is expected at this resolution. The 4 TB drive means the 80 GB install is an afterthought.

What to Upgrade First

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is built on Unreal Engine 5 and its recommended spec reflects it — an RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT, which is the heaviest GPU ask of any game on this site. The gap between the minimum GTX 1070 and the recommended RTX 3080 spans four GPU generations, and Crystal Dynamics has not published resolution or framerate targets for either tier. That ambiguity means every performance estimate below is anchored to the GPU delta, not a developer-confirmed preset.

The practical consequence: the Budget and Mid tiers run this game below the recommended line. The RTX 5060 sits closer to an RTX 3070 than an RTX 3080 in raster performance, and the RTX 5060 Ti does not fully close the gap. Both will play the game — the minimum floor is a GTX 1070 — but at reduced settings or with aggressive DLSS to compensate. The High tier’s RTX 5070 is the first card that matches or exceeds the recommended RTX 3080, making it the natural entry point for the experience Crystal Dynamics designed the recommended spec around.

The CPU side is moderate. A Ryzen 5 3600 minimum and Ryzen 5 5600X recommended are both eclipsed by every processor on this page, including the Recession tier’s Ryzen 5 7500F. Storage is 80 GB with no SSD requirement specified — but given UE5’s asset streaming architecture, an SSD is strongly recommended regardless. This is a February 2027 launch, so benchmarks and potential Ultra/4K spec tiers may arrive closer to release. The game ships with Denuvo.
